OEKO-TEX® Standard 100

OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 is a global certification that prioritizes consumer safety and environment-friendly production in the textile industry. It sets strict criteria for harmful substances in textiles, ensuring safety for human health. Consumers can align with their health and sustainability values by choosing products with this label.

Certification Process

The OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 certification is awarded to textile products that pass rigorous testing for harmful substance such as Azo dyes, Formaldehyde, Heavy metals, Pesticides, Allergenic dyestuffs, Phthalates, and Chlorinated organic carriers. The testing process is conducted by independent OEKO-TEX® member institutes.

Products are tested at all stages of production, from raw materials to the finished item. This meticulous evaluation covers threads, buttons, zippers, and linings, as well as scrutinizing prints and coatings on outer materials based on specific criteria.

Similarly, the STANDARD 100 certification involves testing each component and ingredient individually before granting the final product the esteemed STANDARD 100 label. The label serves as a beacon of trust, ensuring the reliability and safety of the product.

Product Classes

The certification is divided into four product classes, each with different testing criteria:

Product Class I: Textiles and textile toys for babies and toddlers (e.g., underwear, bedding, and soft toys).

Product Class II: Textiles used close to the skin (e.g., underwear, shirts, and socks).

Product Class III: Textiles used away from the skin (e.g., jackets, coats, and mattress covers).

Product Class IV: Furnishing materials (e.g., curtains, tablecloths, and upholstery).
