Bluesign
Bluesign® is a globally recognized system that promotes sustainable and responsible practices through the entire production chain of the textile industry. It focuses on ensuring environmentally friendly and safe production processes, resource efficiency, and the well-being of workers. Companies that adhere to Bluesign standards can proudly display the Bluesign label on their products, indicating to consumers that they are produced sustainably and responsibly.
The bluesign® Certification
A bluesign® certification is not a static achievement but means a company has committed to continuous improvement by implementing the bluesign® SYSTEM at manufacturers and suppliers.
The bluesign® PRODUCT or APPROVED label indicates adherence to stringent safety and environmental standards. Referred to as the bluesign® CRITERIA, these standards represent the pinnacle of excellence within the industry, meaning all chemicals, productions, and materials are safe for the customers, workers, and the planet.
How Bluesign Works
Implementing bluesign® involves a meticulous assessment of the entire textile supply chain. On-site assessments are made to evaluate a facility’s environmental and chemical management practices against the bluesign® CRITERIA.
Following this assessment, a tailored action plan is provided to address identified gaps, aiming to promote responsible production through safe chemistry and efficient use of resources (water, energy, chemistry).
This holistic approach is geared towards minimizing environmental impact and tackling environmental issues at its root, striving for resource productivity, consumer safety, reduced air and water emission, and occupational health and safety.
