Hi! I’m Julia, CEO and founder of Ekotera.
First of all, welcome! I’m so glad you’re here. Ekotera is born from my passion for nature, sustainable living, and innovative design, shaped by my upbringing in Sweden and Finland. Nordic values like minimalism, ethical living, and respect for the environment are at the core of everything we do.
My journey has taken me from pursuing a degree in Cognitive Science in Denmark to exploring rainforest villages in El Salvador and the tech hubs of Singapore. Along the way, I firsthand saw how interconnected our beautiful world is—and the urgent need to protect it. These experiences made me reflect on the privilege of having access to safe, clean, and innovative systems—and the responsibility that comes with it. Witnessing both the challenges and resilience of people and nature has strengthened deepened my commitment to sustainability, fairness, and celebrating local craftsmanship.
The Ekotera Seed Is Planted
The idea for Ekotera came from personal frustration.
A love for nature, humanity, and ethical choices has influenced many things in my life, from how I eat to how I dress. Therefore, when I buy things, I try to make sure I’m making a conscious choice that is kind to mother earth. But as I first started transitioning to a more sustainable lifestyle, I found myself drowning in information. Greenwashing and endless research made it nearly impossible to find truly eco-friendly products without hours of effort.
That’s when it hit me: making sustainable choices shouldn’t be this hard. There needed to be a trustworthy, straightforward space for people who care about the planet to connect to each other and find ethical products—without the stress or confusion.
Ekotera was born from that vision. It’s a place where sustainable living becomes simple, accessible, and empowering.
